(Update to include age of juvenile, safety restraint use, and injury status of two other occupants)
Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into an early Monday morning single vehicle traffic crash just north of Bend that resulted in the death of a California woman and injuries to an adult male driver and juvenile passenger.
On June 4, 2012 at approximately 2:10 a.m. a 1999 Dodge pickup driven by JUAN IGNACIO LOMELI BARBOSA, age 62, from Norwalk, California, was southbound on Highway 97 near milepost 132 when it lost control on wet pavement, hydroplaned across the northbound lanes and continued off the highway. The pickup slid backwards into a rock wall, rolled over and came to rest on its wheels.
Passenger MARIE ROSA ISELA TELLEZ MACIEL, age 42, from Long Beach, California, was not using safety restraints and was ejected from the pickup. She was transported to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend where she was later pronounced deceased.
BARBOSA and the passenger's son, EDMAR LOPEZ,age 8, from Long Beach, were also transported to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend for treatment non-life threatening injuries. Both were using safety restraints.
OSP was assisted at the scene by Deschutes County Sheriff's Office and Bend Fire Department.
