News Release from: Silverton Fire District, SEMI TRUCK TIPS ON ITS SIDE
Posted: May 31, 2012; 2:30pm

The Silverton Fire District responded at approximately 11:00 am to reports of an overturned large semi truck and trailer just outside of Silverton on Howell Prairie Rd near Selah Springs Rd. When crews arrived on scene, they found a large semi truck and trailer completely on its side off the road leaking diesel fuel and motor oil onto the ground. To reduce the impact on the environment, fire crews worked quickly to contain the spilling fluids. The driver of the truck was checked by Woodburn Ambulance personnel. The driver refused care and refused to be transported to the hospital

The trailer attached to the truck was carrying 54,000 pounds of grass seed which was to be transported to Canada. In order for the tow company to put the truck and trailer upright and tow it to their facilities, a crew from a local grass seed company was called to off load all the seed.

There are no cost estimates for the damage to the truck or its contents.
