GASTON FIRE CREW RESCUES SWIMMER FROM HAGG LAKE
Posted: May 28th, 2012 5:30 PM
The Gaston Rural Fire District's new rescue boat was called into action on its first official weekend of the year Monday, coming to the aid of a swimmer in distress.
The crew of two volunteers and one from the Yamhill Fire District noticed a swimmer about half way across the lake at about 3:45 p.m.
When the crew first approached the swimmer he reported that he was OK, but the boat stayed near the swimmer and soon it became apparent he was in distress.
The Gaston crew pulled the swimmer into the boat and covered him with blankets until Metro West ambulance crews transported him to a local hospital.
