FATAL SINGLE VEHICLE CRASH NEAR BROOKS

 A single vehicle fatal crash on Interstate 5 near Brooks has resulted in the death of a 22-year old Canby man. The crash occurred on May 19, 2012 at approximately 12:03 AM at milepost 265 northbound, which is approximately seven miles north of Salem.

According to Oregon State Police (OSP) Senior Trooper Dave Kammerman, a 2004 Nissan 350Z driven by DAVID P. FORREST of Canby drifted off the right shoulder of the freeway, drove through a grassy area, and crashed into a large tree. FORREST was alone in the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing. There were no road closures or delays.

OSP Troopers were assisted at the scene by personnel from the Marion County Fire District. A chaplain from the Canby Police Department assisted with the next of kin notifications.
