DRIVER UNINJURED AFTER CRANE ROLLS OFF HIGHWAY 26 NEAR MANNING (PHOTO)

An Estacada man was not injured Wednesday afternoon when the 44-foot crane he was driving rolled onto its side off Highway 26 near Manning.
According to Oregon State Police (OSP) Senior Trooper Gar Oriet, on May 16, 2012 at approximately 1:40 p.m. a 1991 Grove 50 ton All-Terrain Crane operated by DANIEL S. HENDERSON, age 40, from Estacada, was eastbound on Highway 26 near milepost 48. HENDERSON drove toward the shoulder to allow several trailing vehicles to pass, slowing to about 5 mph when the right front tire went off the pavement onto the soft dirt shoulder. The vehicle slid to the right and rolled onto its side off the highway.
HENDERSON was not injured. He was driving for Marks Brothers Inc. out of Boring. The company contacted a local tow company to help upright the vehicle onto its wheels so it could be removed from the area.
ODOT assisted OSP troopers from the North Plains office at the scene. The crane was still at the scene when OSP cleared.
