Traffic Enforcement deputies from the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office will join law enforcement agencies throughout Oregon in the Three Flags Seatbelt Enforcement Campaign, beginning today and running through June 3rd. The focus of the program is to increase public awareness of the seatbelt laws with the goal of reducing traffic injuries and deaths.

Consistent, proper seatbelt use is the single most effective way of to protect the driver and passengers in a car crash from injury or death, according to the US Department of Transportation.

Speeding and driver impairment are the most common causes of injury crashes. Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies will be focusing on seatbelt use, speeding drivers and impaired drivers in an effort to improve the safety of the motoring public throughout Clackamas County.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office encourages all drivers to buckle up before they drive, obey the posted speed limits, and remember not to drink and drive.
