News Release from: Silverton Fire District- COMMERCIAL FIRE AT THE HISTORIC PALACE THEATER IN SILVERTON

Further information was received by the Silverton Fire District regarding the fire that damaged the Palace Theater in Silverton. This information caused our agency to take a second look at the potential cause and origin of the Fire.

The Marion-Polk County Fire Investigation Team (MPCFIT) assisted in investigating the scene today. Agencies involved were: The Silverton Fire District, The Oregon State Fire Marshal's Office, Oregon State Police, Woodburn Fire District, Salem Fire Department and the Silverton Police. The Silverton Fire District is a member of this regional investigative resource.

After further investigation today by all agencies involved, it has been determined that the most probable cause was accidental in nature which occurred in the concession stand area in the morning hours of April 11th.

A monetary loss amount has been estimated at $250,000.00 to the structure and $60,000.00 to the contents for a total of $310,000.00. This figure may increase as additional information is obtained through the insurance company.
