Full Details:

On April 24, 2012, at about 6:35 p.m., Washington County Sheriff's Deputies responded to NW Susbauer Road north of Cornelius concerning a vehicle crash.

Investigators discovered that Arturo Cantu, age 36, from Portland, drove his 1994 GMC pickup off the roadway. Mr. Cantu's pickup left the road and sheared off a power pole before coming to a stop in a field. A large section of the pole, about 30 feet long, landed on top of the cab.

Mr. Cantu was injured and transported to OHSU for non life threatening injuries. Deputies believe that alcohol was a factor in this crash. No one else was injured in the crash.

Deputies had the roadway closed for about four hours while PGE replaced the damaged power pole.

Washington County Sheriff's Deputies continued the investigation and issued citations to Mr. Cantu at the hospital. He was charged with DUII, Reckless Driving, and Criminal Mischief.
