Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into Monday afternoon's two vehicle traffic crash on Highway 211 south of Sandy that resulted in injuries to two adults and one child. The three vehicle occupants were transported to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center and the highway was opened about 3:00 p.m. Names and other information released in this update.
On March 5, 2012 at approximately 1:40 p.m. a 1992 Toyota van driven by LYNDA WHEELER, age 64, from Sandy, was northbound on Highway 211 near SE Martin Road when it lost control on the sleet-covered roadway. The Toyota slid into the oncoming lane where it collided with a southbound 2008 Mazda four-door driven by JOHN M. WILLIAMS, age 38, from Sandy. The Mazda came to rest off the highway and the Toyota stopped on the road.
The three vehicle occupants were extricated by Sandy Fire District 72 firefighters and transported by ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center. A child passenger in the Mazda was identified as RILEY WILLIAMS, age 3. None of the injuries were life-threatening.
OSP is continuing the investigation. No citations issued at this time. Lead investigator is Trooper Scott McLeod.
