RED CROSS MONTH EVENTS AROUND OREGON
Posted: March 7th, 2012 1:57 PM
March is Red Cross Month and the Oregon Chapters of the American Red Cross are presenting or participating in a number of events around the state, including:
March 14 – Each year, the Southern Oregon Chapter of the American Red Cross honors extraordinary acts of courage, humanity, unselfishness and commitment to community at our annual Heroes Breakfast presented by Fred Meyer. This year's event will take place at: 821 N. Riverside Ave in Medford, OR, 7:30AM.
Is your family prepared for an earthquake or major disaster? What would you do if your home lost power for a month? What if you didn't have running water or food for a week? Join your neighbors at the 2nd Annual West Linn Emergency Preparedness Fair on Wednesday, March 14 from 4:00 – 8:00PM at West Linn High School.
Bring your family and learn what to include in a survival kit, how to cook in the dark, ways to keep your pets safe and more. TVF&R and West Linn Police will have interactive demonstrations and "hands-on" activities for the kids! The event will feature a fun multimedia presentation by preparedness expert and well-known lecturer James Roddey, Director of Communications at the Oregon Red Cross, at 6:00PM.
March 15 – Ordinary people perform extraordinary, and sometimes life-saving, acts of compassion. Our annual Heroes Luncheon presented by Fred Meyer is a free event (RSVP required) to celebrate those everyday heroes, here in Lane County, who have made a difference in the lives of others. This year's event will be at the Valley River Inn, Eugene – Noon. Please call 541-344-5244 for details or to RSVP.
We know a mega-quake and massive tsunami could hit Oregon at any time. New scientific discoveries are also showing us what we thought we knew about these giant earthquakes, and the risk they pose, may be wrong. James Roddey of the Oregon Red Cross will be giving a multimedia presentation that explores what 'The Big One' has in store for us and how we might prepare. The lecture is free and open to the public; Salem Public Library in the Loucks Auditorium at 7:00PM.
March 17 – Emergency Preparedness Expo, 12300 SE 312th Drive, Boring will feature a multimedia presentation by preparedness expert and well-known lecturer James Roddey, Director of Communications at the Oregon Red Cross, at 2:00PM.
Red Cross classes and preparedness workshops will be available throughout the day. There will also be a Red Cross booth with additional preparedness tips and checklists.
March 27 – Together We Prepare Oregon presentation, at the Portland Red Cross facility, Tillamook Room, 3131 N. Vancouver Ave. 6:00-7:00PM
March 28 – Heroes are made in the blink of an eye and found where you might least expect them. Our 8th annual Heroes Breakfast presented by Fred Meyer recognizes individuals who exemplify courage, kindness and character through their acts of heroism in our community. Oregon Mountain River Chapter, Bend, OR. 7:30-9:30AM. Call 541-382-2142 for details.
