The following news release is sent at the request of the Klamath County Sheriff's Office:

A man missing out of northern Klamath County since March 18, 2012 was found safe Thursday morning by U.S. Forest Service employees off a forest service road in his vehicle near the Lane / Douglas County line north of Steamboat.

DONALD A. JONES, age 77, had been missing from northern Klamath County since Sunday after leaving his residence in a blue 1994 Buick Regal two-door with no known destination or direction of travel.

On March 22, 2012 at approximately 11:20 a.m. U.S. Forest Service employees were checking area roads for trees blown down during this past week's storms when they found a vehicle just off the road down an embankment. Upon checking the vehicle they found JONES sleeping on the rear seat.

Forest Service immediately called 9-1-1. Douglas County deputies and an ambulance responded to the area. Following a short interview with deputies, JONES was taken by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg for a medical evaluation.

The Klamath County Sheriff's Office extends their appreciation to all those who diligently looked for Mr. JONES throughout the past few days.
