Posted: January 10th, 2012 9:55 AM

The Oregon State Police (OSP) Portland Area Command office was closed for over an hour Tuesday morning while bomb technicians inspected and cleared a suspicious bag left overnight next to the office's front door.

On January 10, 2012 at approximately 8:00 a.m. an office staff member found a medium size grocery bag with unknown contents sitting next to the exterior front door of the OSP Portland Area Command office located in the 8000 block of SE Deer Creek Lane in Milwaukie. OSP staff was moved to a safe location in the rear of the building and nearby open businesses notified. The parking lot entrance was blocked while Portland Police Bureau and OSP explosive technicians responded.

Upon arrival, explosive technicians x-rayed the package and determined the contents were not explosive or hazardous. It was removed from the scene and the office was re-opened at 9:00 a.m.

No photographs for release.
