UPDATE: TROUTDALE RESIDENT DIES FROM INJURIES SUSTAINED IN OCTOBER 14TH CRASH ON HIGHWAY 18 EAST OF OTIS

Oregon State Police (OSP) confirmed a 19-year old Troutdale resident died Sunday, November 20, at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center where he was treated following injuries sustained in an October 14, 2011 traffic crash on Highway 18 east of Otis.
KENON A. EVERTS, age 19, from Troutdale, was involved in a two-vehicle traffic crash October 14, 2011 at approximately 9:07 a.m. on Highway 18 near milepost 3. The 1998 Volkswagen Cabriolet driven by EVERTS was westbound on Highway 18 near milepost 3 when it traveled toward the highway shoulder, collided with a guardrail and then crossed into the eastbound lane where it was struck in the side by an eastbound 1999 Chrysler Concord with four occupants.
EVERTS and five other people were initially transported by Pac West Ambulance to North Lincoln Hospital. EVERTS was then flown by REACH air ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland where he was treated for critical injuries until he died. He was using safety restraints.
The other people received non-life threatening injuries.
OSP troopers from the Newport Area Command Office are completing the investigation.
