Portland Parks & Recreation Salutes Veterans, Offers Adaptive & Inclusive Recreation:
Activities for People with Disabilities & Special Needs

(Portland, OR) -
Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) is proud to offer Adapted & Inclusive Recreation (AIR) programs and activities: community-based recreation activities and leisure services specially designed for children, teens, and adults who have a disability and/or special needs. AIR services are designed to assist people in developing and using their leisure time in ways that enhance their health, well-being, and independence.

PP&R is proud of our veterans and their valiant service. AIR programs are offered to anyone, including, but not limited to, returning veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan who may have experienced life-changing events overseas.

About the Program
PP&R's Adapted & Inclusive Recreation is considered one of the top specialized community recreation programs in the United States. The AIR program serves people of all ages and types of special needs at sites throughout the city, including Portland Parks & Recreation's community centers and SUN community schools. Participants need not live in Portland to participate in AIR programs; however, non-Portland residents pay a slightly higher fee.

"We value Portland Parks & Recreation's AIR activities, facilities, and commitment to veterans," says Michelle Davidson of the Oregon Military Support Network http://www.oregonmilitarysupportnetwork.org. "PP&R's programs provide many relaxing, fulfilling options to former and current military personnel, including returning Iraq and Afghanistan veterans."
