Fatal Crash Claims Life of California Man Near Roseburg

FATAL CRASH CLAIMS LIFE OF CALIFORNIA MAN NEAR ROSEBURG

A single vehicle fatal crash occurred at 4:00 AM this morning on Interstate 5 at milepost 130.

According to passengers, the operator fell asleep and drifted off the roadway then woke up and overcorrected. The vehicle rolled and landed on its top in a construction zone. The driver, ERASTO RAMOS, age 52, of Farmersville, CA was deceased at the scene. The driver's wife, ANTONIA RAMOS, age 46, and his daughter, MICALINA RAMOS, age 29, sustained non life-threatening injuries and were transported to Mercy Hospital for treatment.

All occupants of the vehicle were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Troopers from the Roseburg area command are continuing the investigation. They were assisted at the scene by Fire District 2 and ODOT. Photographs not available at this time.
