Posted: November 15th, 2011 8:51 AM
In this season of thanks, residents from throughout Western Washington will gather to honor first responders Tuesday evening in Forest Grove.
A piece of iron salvaged from the World Trade Center will be dedicated as a memorial to fallen firefighters, and author Wally Johnston will discuss his book, "Sent to Serve: The Chaplains of 9/11."
"Thankful for Public Safety Workers" will be 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov.22, in the Rogers Room of the Forest Grove City Library. The event, which is free and open to the public, also will include a video presentation, a Boy Scout Honor Guard and refreshments.
Chaplains from the Forest Grove Police and from the Cornelius, Forest Grove, Gaston and Hillsboro fire departments also will be on hand.
