Three Separate Investigations Involving Rogue Area Drug Enforcement Team Nets 70 lbs of Marijuana, Eight Arrests

THREE SEPARATE INVESTIGATIONS INVOLVING ROGUE AREA DRUG ENFORCEMENT TEAM NETS 70 LBS OF MARIJUANA, EIGHT ARRESTS

Three separate investigations this week involving the Rogue Area Drug Enforcement (RADE) team led to the total seizure of approximately 70 pounds of marijuana and several charges toward 8 individuals in Josephine County.

In the first investigation, on October 11, 2011 at approximately 7:17 p.m. an Oregon State Police (OSP) trooper stopped a vehicle on Sunny Glen Way in Josephine County that led to the seizure of approximately 5 pounds of marijuana, a small amount of methamphetamine and other items of evidence. The vehicle's three following occupants were all arrested by OSP with the assistance of RADE detectives and lodged in the Josephine County Jail:

* Driver JOHN McCONVILLE, age 24, from Wolf Creek, was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance - Methamphetamine, and Unlawful Manufacture and Delivery of Marijuana.
* Passenger JAMES DEAN CORDER, age 38, from Grants Pass, was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance - Methamphetamine; Unlawful Manufacture, Possession, and Delivery of Marijuana; Possession of a Restricted Weapon (brass knuckles); and, Probation Violation out of Douglas County.
* Passenger LACIE MARIE YARBERY, age 33, from Canyonville, was arrested for Probation Violation out of Douglas County.

The second investigation involved the execution of a search warrant on October 12, 2011 at 618 Brimstone Road in Wolf Creek. RADE detectives seized approximately 40 pounds of marijuana, a firearm and other related evidence. JOSHUA RYMER, age 36, from Wolf Creek, was lodged in the Josephine County Jail for Unlawful Possession, Manufacture, and Distribution of Marijuana. Two others were cited and released to appear in Josephine County Circuit Court for Unlawful Possession and Manufacture of Marijuana. They are identified as TABITHA FLEMING, age 40, and JAMES FLEMING, age 42, both from Wolf Creek.

The third investigation involved detectives from RADE, OSP Drug Enforcement Section, and the OSP Fish & Wildlife Division. On October 13, 2011, officers contacted a residence at 200 Tyler Crossing in Cave Junction where they seized over 25 pounds of marijuana, a firearm, 4 sets of deer antlers, two deer hearts, and other evidence. The following two people were cited to appear in Josephine County Circuit Court:

* NICHOLAS NAVARRO, age 33, from Cave Junction, was charged with Unlawful Possession and Manufacture of Marijuana, and four counts of Exceeding Bag Limit - Black Tail Deer.
* TODD BUCKMASTER, age 36, from Brookings, was later cited as a result of the ongoing investigation and charged with Unlawful Possession and Manufacture of Marijuana.

Total estimated value of the marijuana from the three cases is $175,000. Investigations are ongoing and other arrests may result. No photographs provided for this release.

The interagency narcotics RADE team is comprised of personnel from the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety, Oregon State Police, Josephine County Sheriff's Office, Josephine County District Attorney's Office, and the Josephine County Community Corrections.
