Portland Parks & Recreation's Teen Force Showcases DJ Skills:

Students Work School Dances and More

(Portland, OR) -
Portland Parks & Recreation offers a very cool program for teens that teaches them DJ skills.
Students with PP&R's DJ Academy at University Park Community Center use the mixing board and other equipment. Teens then produce music for high school dances, businesses and parties at a low cost.
PP&R recently worked in partnership with Alli Sports http://www.allisports.com/ to give Portland teens a great opportunity to experience the excitement of the Dew Tour from behind the scenes. PP&R's DJ Academy students spun music at the Dew Tour all day. This experience allowed program youth the opportunity to showcase the skills they learned as participants of PP&R's and University Park Community Center's DJ Academy.
Portland Parks & Recreation DJ Academy students range from ages 12-18. They participate in prominent events from middle school dances to hosting jam sessions at events as large as the Dew Tour.

PP&R's program instructor, Joshua Stohl is a professional DJ who has received his teaching certificate from Concordia College. Stohl has been with PP&R as a DJ instructor since 2009 and has found a way to connect with youth through music. Stohl's peers laud his hard work and commitment to the program.
