With several baggies of methamphetamine scattered on the ground around him, a 23-year old man was arrested Sunday evening by Oregon State Police in the Gladstone area after he fell trying to outrun a trooper while fleeing the vehicle he was driving.

On August 22, 2011 at approximately 6:30 p.m. OSP Trooper Ted Moisan attempted to stop a Chevrolet Blazer southbound on Interstate 205 near Highway 224 for traveling 78 mph in a 55 mph speed zone. The driver failed to yield and attempted to elude the trooper, exiting into a Gladstone residential area. As the vehicle slowed near 82nd Drive and SE Jennifer Street, the driver got out and started to run on foot while the vehicle rolled into a power pole.

Moisan was chasing the suspect driver on foot for about a block when the suspect fell down in the front yard of a residence. Several baggies of methamphetamine scattered onto the ground around the suspect before Moisan took him into custody.

The suspect, identified as CHRISTOPHER MARK LEAR, age 23, from Canby, was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail on the following charges:

* Felony Attempt to Elude in a Vehicle
* Misdemeanor Attempt to Elude on Foot
* Reckless Driving
* Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance - Methamphetamine
* Parole Violation

The investigation is continuing and additional charges may be pending.
