Solar Beaverton Extends Discounted Solar Program

SOLAR BEAVERTON EXTENDS DISCOUNTED SOLAR PROGRAM

- Strong interest prompts extension, free workshops scheduled through July -

BEAVERTON, Ore. - Due to the high interest for discounted residential solar systems in Washington County, the City of Beaverton has extended the deadline for the Solar Beaverton program to Aug. 1.

"Solar Beaverton brings affordable, renewable energy to our community," said Mayor Denny Doyle. "This is a great time for Beaverton homeowners to make a change that reduces their carbon footprint and puts money back in their wallets."

More than 400 homeowners in the Beaverton area have signed up for free site assessments performed by LiveLight Energy, which is the first step in the Solar Beaverton home solarization program.

Solar Beaverton offers a number of workshops that highlight the tax incentives citizens can receive when they add solar to their homes.

Basics of Solar - Wednesday, July 13 from 7 to 8 p.m.

An introductory workshop that helps explains how residential photovoltaic (PV) systems work, while highlighting the tax credits and incentives that make solar affordable with results yielding significant financial savings for homeowners.

Q & A Open House - Thursday, July 21 from 7 to 8 p.m.

An informative solar energy conversation between Beaverton community members, solar home owners and the experts at LiveLight Energy and the City of Beaverton. This is an opportunity to get detailed answers to solar-related questions, and learn about the tax credits and incentives currently available. Sustainable refreshments will be provided.

SolarWorld Tour - Saturday, July 23 from 10 a.m. to Noon
SolarWorld USA, 25300 NW Evergreen Road

Take a tour of the manufacturing and production facilities of SolarWorld. See the process of solar panel production in action from start to finish. Knowledgeable solar professionals will be available to answer questions about the current tax credits and incentives that save homeowners more than 80 percent on solar systems.

Financials of Going Solar - Tuesday, July 26 from 7 to 8 p.m.
Beaverton Community Center, 12350 SW 5th Street

An Energy Trust professional provides details of state and federal tax credits, and highlights the popular $1.75 per-watt incentive program for new residential solar systems.
