SHERWOOD HOME INTRUSION DEEMED FALSE REPORT

Police have established the July 7th home invasion report, made by 18 year old Alison Reitz of Sherwood, was fabricated. Evidence at the scene failed to show any sign of an unauthorized entry. Police also noted that other circumstances were inconsistent with her report. Police confronted Reitz during an interview yesterday, when she admitted that she had made up the account, to get attention over family problems. Reitz informed police that she had not intended to involve police, who were summoned by friends she had called for help.
Sherwood Police Chief Jeff Groth commented "There were a lot of resources expended on this response and investigation. I am told there was significant concern expressed on social media by citizens that this happened in this community." Police are hopeful that resolution of this complaint will alleviate some concerns.
Police will complete their investigation and consider charges against Reitz.
