A commercial truck driver transporting approximately 40 tons of garbage received minor injuries Thursday morning after his truck and semi-trailer overturned on Highway 216 near Pine Grove. The westbound lane was blocked about five hours during scene clean up and debris removal.
On July 14, 2011 at approximately 7:30 a.m. a 1992 Peterbilt truck pulling a semi-trailer loaded with garbage was driven by JAMES M. PUDDY, age 25, from Madras, eastbound on Highway 216 near milepost 4. For an undetermined reason, the truck and trailer rolled onto its left side, sliding about 200 feet in the westbound lane before coming to a stop. A large amount of the garbage load spilled off the highway.
PUDDY was using safety restraints and received very minor injuries.
OSP Trooper Mark Jubitz is continuing the investigation. ODOT assisted at the scene.
