The Silverton Fire District has completed the investigation into the fire that occurred last night at 115 Wesley St. in Silverton. The cause of the fire was a propane fueled barbecue that had a buildup of greasy material from past usage. This build up of grease caught fire when the resident used the barbecue before cleaning it.

The fire, fueled by the grease and propane, immediately raced up the side of the cedar sided home where it entered the second story portion of the home causing major damage throughout the structure. Unfortunately, the house is being considered a total loss.

Value of the home is approximately $145,000. The value of the contents has not been determined at this time.

The attached pictures show the interior of the home, while the exterior photos show the location/origin of the fire.

The Silverton Fire District encourages people to clean their barbeque's after each use to keep buildup of flammable grease and other flammable products to a absolute minimum.

Pictures attached.
