Five members of Eugene-area family were injured Friday afternoon in a single vehicle rollover traffic crash along Interstate 84 about three miles east of Troutdale. Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation.
According to OSP Trooper Mike Reel, on July 1, 2011 at approximately 2:30 p.m. a 1999 Ford Explorer driven by KRISTIN ESTLICK, age 34, from Eugene, was eastbound on Interstate 84 near milepost 20. A witness told OSP that it appeared one of the vehicle's tires blew out prior to ESTLICK losing control. The vehicle traveled off the right shoulder and rolled before coming to rest on its wheels about 3 feet from the railroad tracks.
ESTLICK, her husband and three children ages 13 years, 11 years, and 18 months were all transported by AMR ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
All occupants were using safety restraints and the child was in a child safety seat.
Railroad traffic was halted during the response and vehicle removal. Eastbound traffic was limited to one lane for an hour.
OSP was assisted at the scene by Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, Troutdale Police Department, Multnomah County Rural Fire District, ODOT, and Union Pacific Railroad.
