FLICKS BY THE FOUNTAIN BEGINS AUGUST 12 AT BEAVERTON CITY PARK

- Popular community event features two family-friendly films in the heart of Beaverton -

On August 12 and 18, Beaverton City Park will be transformed into an outdoor movie theater, sponsored by Beaverton Toyota, offering free activities and fun for the entire community to enjoy. Pre-movie entertainment begins at 7 p.m. and will include kids' crafts hosted by Radio Disney. The flicks begin at dusk.

"Flicks by the Fountain has become a popular summer event for all ages," said Mayor Denny Doyle. "Events like these bring our community closer together and provide free local family entertainment for Beaverton residents."

FLICKS BY THE FOUNTAIN SCHEDULE
* August 12 - Tangled (100 min, PG)
* August 18 - Secretariat (123 min, PG)

Short films created and produced by students from Sunset High School and Arts & Communications Magnet Academy will be shown before each movie.

Movie-goers are welcome to bring their own food and drink, if desired. No alcohol or smoking is allowed at the shows. Low-back chairs and comfy blankets are recommended.

Parking is available next to Beaverton City Library and in the parking lot where the Beaverton Farmers Market is held. Restroom facilities are located in the park.

The fountain at the Beaverton City Park will be turned off all day on days that Flicks by the Fountain are held in order to accomodate the inflatable movie screen. In case of inclement weather, these showings will be cancelled.

To ensure the safety of pedestrians and provide a better viewing experience, SW 5th Street between SW Hall Boulevard and SW Watson Avenue will be closed from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m. on Friday, August 12 and 18. Westbound 5th Street traffic will be diverted south on SW Tucker Avenue and northbound Hall Boulevard traffic will be diverted eastbound at SW 5th Street.
