A 54-year old Salem woman died early Saturday morning about two miles north of Brooks after being ejected from her vehicle which she lost control of at the intersection of Highway 99E and Waconda Road. Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers from the Salem Area Command office are continuing the investigation into the cause of the crash. The woman's name is being released in this update.

According to OSP Sergeant Craig Ball, on June 4, 2011 at approximately 12:15 a.m. DEANNA CUMMINGS, age 54, from Salem, was operating a Mazda passenger car northbound on Highway 99E at a high rate of speed when she lost control. The car crossed the southbound lanes, struck a tree on the west side of the highway and flipped on its top in the northbound lanes.

CUMMINGS, who was the lone occupant, was ejected and pronounced deceased at the scene. Safety restraints use is not known at this time.
