SERIOUS INJURY TRAFFIC CRASH - HIGHWAY 26 / GOVERNMENT CAMP (PHOTO)

Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into a Saturday morning serious injury crash on the west end of Government Camp. One person was critically injured and a second received minor injuries.
According to OSP Trooper Caleb Borchers, on June 4, 2011 at approximately 6:04 a.m. a 2001 Subaru Forrester driven by MARK G. OOSTERMAN, age 25, from Sandy, was eastbound on Highway 26 near milepost 53. OOSTERMAN lost control of the vehicle and it traveled off the right shoulder, hit some large rocks and then flipped multiple times before coming to rest with the front end in a small creek.
OOSTERMAN and passenger DANIEL R. HEIS, age 25, from Fairview, were ejected from the vehicle. OOSTERMAN came to rest face down in the water and was pulled out by unidentified Mt. Hood ski patrol members who were near the crash scene. The ski patrol members started emergency medical care on OOSTERMAN and HEIS until other emergency responders arrived and took over.
OOSTERMAN and HEIS were transported by LifeFlight to Oregon Health & Sciences University for treatment. OOSTERMAN is in critical condition and HEIS in serious condition.
OSP is continuing the investigation into the cause of the crash. Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor. Safety restraint use is pending confirmation through the investigation.
Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, Hoodland Fire Department, AMR ambulance and ODOT also assisted at the scene.
