Two short weeks ago the Fairview Police Department launched a Prescription Drug Turn In Program that allows people to drop off unwanted prescription drugs. To our surprise we have collected 56.4 pounds of prescription drugs.
Fairview Police Chief Ken Johnson issued the following statement: "I knew there was a need for this type of program, especially since there are very few departments in our state offering such a program. But, this has far exceeded our expectations. Knowing that we are removing a source that leads to prescription drug abuse and could very likely save lives shows how valuable this program is. Over 56 pounds in 15 days is remarkable. That is 56.4 pounds of prescription drugs that will not get into the hands of our young people or pollute our waterways."
Anyone wishing to turn in unwanted and/or unused prescription drugs may do so by simply bringing them to the lobby of the Fairview Police Department, 1300 NE Village Street, Fairview during normal business hours (Monday-Friday 8am-5pm).
