FATAL TRAFFIC CRASH IN SANDY
Posted: June 29th, 2011 12:48 AM

At approximately 9:45pm, a pedestrian was struck and killed by a car at the intersection of US Highway 26 and Ruben Lane, in Sandy.

A 51 year old male resident of the Sandy area was walking northbound in the marked crosswalk on the east side of the intersection, when a westbound Toyota Corolla sedan struck him. The male pedestrian was crossing against the light, and the driver of the Toyota was reportedly entering the intersection on a green light. Sandy Fire personnel responded to the scene, and were unable to revive the man. Initial investigating officers from the Sandy Police Department indicate that there was no indication that drugs or alcohol were a factor with the driver of the Toyota.

The name of the pedestrian will not be released until his next of kin are located and notified.

The crash investigation was assumed by the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office C.R.A.F.T. team, and the investigation is ongoing at this time.

Contact Info: Further inquiries should be directed to the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office PIO staff.
