OREGON CITY POLICE CATCH SERIAL PEEPING TOM
Posted: June 30th, 2011 8:21 AM

On June 29th, just before midnight, Oregon City officers responded to a call at 630 Pleasant Avenue #D113, regarding a man seen peering into the windows of the apartments. Police have been responding to these same types of calls at this particular complex for the few months. The suspicious male had never been identified, having either left on foot before police arrival or having run off when confronted by neighbors. Most residents in the apartment complex have been aware of this problem and have been on the lookout for the suspect.

On June 3, 2011, police responded to one of these complaints at 630 Pleasant Avenue #E116, but were unable to find the suspect. Last night, when our officers arrived and began looking for the suspect, an Oregon City Sergeant found the suspect looking into the window of #E116. The sergeant identified himself as a police officer, told the suspect to stop and the suspect began to flee on foot. Once the suspect realized there were several police officers in the area and that he was essentially surrounded, he stopped running. He was taken into custody.

The informant from the June 3rd report, who lives at E116, identified the suspect as the same one who she had seen looking into her apartment on June 3rd. This victim was so scared she was shaking when police spoke with her.

On April 10, 2011, the resident of #E117 had reported seeing a male masturbating, while looking into apartment #F123. This informant was unable to identify the suspect and unable to say whether or not that suspect was Anthony Johnson. On that evening, the male she saw was wearing a hooded sweatshirt, making it difficult to see his face.

The suspect was identified as Anthony Michael Johnson (dob: 09-20-82); with an address of 616 Molalla Avenue #4, in Oregon City. Johnson told police he was looking for his black cat named "Blacky." He also told police he had been looking into one of the windows for 3-5 minutes. Johnson told police he had been at that apartment complex looking for his cat several times and that it was not an every night thing. Johnson told police he had been "looking for his cat" at different times at that complex for about a year.

As police were leaving with Mr. Johnson, residents of the apartments clapped and applauded his capture to the police. Our department was very happy to finally identify and arrest this individual who appears to have been traumatizing citizens in their homes.

Mr. Johnson was lodged at Clackamas County Jail for Criminal Trespass II (ORS 164.245), a misdemeanor.

You can see his booking photo at http://www.co.clackamas.or.us/sheriff/jail/roster/inc/pic.jsp?id=2011019531.
