A Nevada man escaped injuries after his semi-truck rolled on Highway 58 east of Oakridge. Troopers from the Springfield Area Command are continuing the investigation into the crash that closed the eastbound lanes for three hours.

According to Oregon State Police (OSP) Trooper Evan Sether, on June 3, 2011 at approximately 4:15 a.m. a 2002 Freightliner truck operated by RAFAEL ACEVEDO-VERA, age 30, from Sparks, Nevada, was westbound on Highway 58 near milepost 54. For an unknown reason, the semi-truck and trailer drifted off the westbound shoulder of the road. The truck and trailer jack-knifed and rolled on to the passenger side, coming to rest blocking the eastbound lane. The box trailer contained approximately 40,000 pounds of coffee beans.

ACEVEDO-VERA suffered no injuries and was wearing safety restraints. He was cited for Fail to Drive Within a Lane.

A minor diesel fuel and oil leak was isolated from nearby waterways. The eastbound traffic lane of Highway 58 was closed for approximately three hours during the investigation. ODOT personnel and a tow company were working through the morning to transfer the load and remove the truck and trailer from the scene.

OSP was assisted at the scene by ODOT and Northwest HazMat.
