- Enjoy dinner and a show with neighbors, friends and local leaders -
Mayor Denny Doyle and the Beaverton City Council will be breaking out the barbeques as Beaverton kicks-off its ninth annual Picnics in the Park series on Wednesday, July 13 at 6 p.m. in Schiffler Park (5600 SW Erickson Avenue). Residents are invited to join their Neighborhood Association Committees (NACs) and enjoy an evening of summer fare as they meet with local leaders.
"When people come together in a welcoming, summer setting like these picnics, we create a stronger, more vibrant community," said Mayor Denny Doyle. "It's also a great opportunity to have thoughtful conversations with local leaders and fellow neighbors."
New to this year's Picnics in the Park is the addition of free, community entertainment. Picnic-goers can follow-up their dinner with either a performance by the Beaverton Civic Theatre or showing of a family-friendly movie. Informational booths about City programs and services will be available along with representatives from Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue, the Beaverton Police Department and Tualatin Hills Parks & Recreation District during the Picnics. Attendees can also catch a performance by the 40-member Beaverton Community Band.
Picnics in the Park are held in City neighborhoods throughout the month of July and into August. All picnics begin at 6 p.m. with post-Picnic entertainment beginning at 7 p.m. This year's Picnics are scheduled for:
* Wednesday, July 13: Central Beaverton, Highland and West Beaverton neighborhoods at Schiffler Park, 5600 SW Erickson Avenue. Outdoor theater presented by the Beaverton Civic Theatre - "Kids Express."
