A Beaverton man was injured Monday afternoon when the commercial truck he was driving crashed through a guardrail on Highway 20 west of Eddyville and rolled down an embankment. Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation.
According to OSP Trooper Michael Hansen, on June 27, 2011 at approximately 5:10 p.m. a 2006 Freightliner truck pulling two trailers loaded with paper rolls was eastbound on Highway 20 near milepost 17. As the truck and trailers were negotiating a left curve, the truck collided with the guardrail on the shoulder and rolled approximately 30 feet down an embankment to where it came to rest.
Driver LESTER W. KISSINGER, age 57, from Beaverton, was transported by ambulance to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport with non-life threatening injuries.
Traffic was reduced to one lane for about an hour.
OSP was assisted at the scene by Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, Toledo Fire Department, PacWest ambulance and ODOT.
