NEWS RELEASE (Photos Attached)
CCSO: Wilsonville Police seeking location of reported missing mother and her 8-year-old child
On June 23, 2011, Paul Castro (husband) took his wife, Sayward Pratt, and daughter, Katie Castro, to Chelsea's Sanctuary, located at 293 West 3rd St, Lafayette, Oregon.
Mother and daughter were scheduled to spend approximately a day-and-a-half at the Chelsea Sancuary location, in Lafayette. Mr. Castro returned on June 24, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. to pick up his wife and daughter as previously planned. Upon arrival, Mr. Castro was told by people at Chelsea's Sanctuary that both Sayward Pratt and Katie Castro had departed earlier in a "big" car, with an unknown adult male. Nothing appeared to be out of the ordinary or strange. The person Mr. Castro spoke with at Chelsea's Sanctuary believed (incorrectly) the unidentified male to be Ms. Pratt's husband.
Chelsea's Sanctuary is an alternative health care location. It is not known at this time why Ms. Pratt was at the Sanctuary location.
Since that point in time, Mr. Castro has attempted -- unsuccessfully -- to contact Ms. Pratt on her cell, and has left voice messages with no response from Ms. Pratt.
Ms. Pratt did a similar act a little over a year ago too; on that occasion, getting into a car with a stranger, and traveled with her daughter to Grants Pass, Oregon.
Wilsonville Police were able to locate Ms. Pratt and her daughter, and worked effectively with authorities in Grants Pass to secure the child. At the time it was believed Ms. Pratt was suffering from delusional thinking; and there was a concern of possible suicidal ideation related to the Holy Holiday of Easter.
At this time, it is not known if Ms. Pratt is experiencing similar, or like thoughts, in regards to this most recent disappearance. However, due to the previous incident, there is a concern for the welfare of both the mother and 8-year-old child.
DESCRIPTIONS:
Sayward Pratt is a white female, 32-Years-old, 5'10" tall, weighing about 230 pounds, with long wavy brown hair, and blue eyes. She wears wire rimmed glasses. (Photo Attached)
Katie Castro is a white female, 8-years-old, 4'01" tall, weighing about 50 pounds, with straight shoulder length brown hair, and green eyes. (Photo Attached)
Both subjects have been entered into LEDS/NCIC as missing persons.
If anyone has seen or has information concerning Sayward Pratt or Katie Castro, they are encouraged to contact their local law enforcement agency or the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office / Wilsonville Police Department with information immediately.
