Family Friday Concert Series: Something free and fun for parents and kids to attend together!

What: Family Friday Concert Series – free concerts for families

Where: Community Music Center, 3350 SE Francis Street, Portland

When: The 2nd Friday of each month at 7:15 pm, ending by 8:30 pm. See schedule below for dates and groups.

Cost: Free with suggested donation of $5.00 ($15 for a family of any size); tickets available at the door only. Fresh popcorn, snacks and refreshments are sold at the door for a minimal price.

The Family Friday Series is proudly sponsored by Larkins Vacura, LLP, Trial Attorneys and the Oregonian and features popular local musicians. Admission is free to the public thanks to a grant from Southeast Uplift. The concerts are run by volunteers and all proceeds benefit scholarships and other programs at the Community Music Center (CMC).

Next concert: December 10, 2010 – TERRACOUSTIC

An adventurous, original string trio presenting music from American and Irish dance traditions as well spontaneous group improvisation. Performing will be Tim Connell (mandolin / penny whistle), Ben Blechman (four and six string violin) and Josh Feinberg (upright bass). For more band information, see: www.terracoustic.com.

The Community Music Center (CMC) is a Portland Parks & Recreation facility in partnership with an all-volunteer non-profit organization that raises money to help subsidize tuition fees at the school. It serves families across the Portland area and supports those with limited economic means by increasing access to music performances and educational opportunities. Benefit concerts such as this one support a need-based scholarship fund that enables students to follow their dreams in music.
