Clark County Sheriff's Office
Prescription painkillers - often stolen and abused - are helping fuel an overdose epidemic in Washington state. Drug overdoses now kill more Washington residents than car accidents. Prescription Drugs are quickly becoming the "drug of choice" for many of our Clark County youth and adults. According to the 2008 Washington State Healthy Youth Survey, 1 in 10 of our local high school seniors admitted to misusing prescription drugs IN THE LAST 30 DAYS! One of the primary ways youth (and adults) access these drugs is through their medicine cabinets at home and at other family members.
YOU CAN HELP reduce this problem by safely disposing of any unwanted or expired Rx medications this coming Saturday, September 25th between the hours of 10 and 2 at the Sleep Country Amphitheatre at the Clark County Fairgrounds. Clark County Sheriffs Deputies will be on hand to collect your medicines.
In partnership with the DEA, the Clark County Sheriff's Office is hosting this event to highlight just how simple it is to help reduce this threat to our community by safely disposing of your medicine.
If Saturday doesn't work for your schedule, you can bring your unwanted Rx medicine to most Law Enforcement offices in Clark County during regular business hours every Monday through Friday. I've attached a list so you can find one close to you! This is a FREE, NO QUESTIONS ASKED service for our community members.
