Improve your home energy IQ at free workshop
Co-sponsored by Pacific Power and Energy Trust of Oregon, a series of seminars across Oregon will tell customers about saving energy

PORTLAND, Ore. – How much electricity and money can you save? What is the single biggest energy user in your home? Do you need to install insulation or change your habits? How can you reduce your energy usage?

Get the answers to these and other energy efficiency questions at a series of free seminars offered this fall throughout Pacific Power's Oregon service area by Energy Trust of Oregon and Pacific Power. Have dinner on Pacific Power and take home a helpful home energy efficiency kit in addition to getting the low-down on energy-saving opportunities and what you need to create an energy savings action plan. For more information or to register, go to www.pacificpower.net/energyiq.

"Energy efficiency is a huge part of how we will chart our nation's energy future," said Pat Egan, vice president of customer and community affairs for Pacific Power. "Everyone working together to find how they can lead their lives in the most energy-efficient way will have a profound effect on everything from carbon emissions, to how many new resources will be needed, to your monthly power bill."
The evening workshops, set for 12 cities throughout Oregon, will explore how energy works in a home and how homeowner actions can make significant impacts on energy usage. Those attending will develop a deeper understanding of home energy use, the effects of appliances and systems on their energy bills and how simple changes can reduce an individual's energy use and carbon footprint.
Participants also learn how to increase comfort and improve indoor air quality and discover what diagnostic testing can do for one's home. The workshop will help homeowners decide whether a project is do-it-yourself or if it requires professional services.

After attending, participants will better understand how to:
• Identify household energy use and how it changes over time
• Take a whole-home approach to energy efficiency
• Recognize the most cost-effective energy improvements for the home
• Save energy and improve their home's comfort, health and safety
• Insulate from rising energy costs
• Reduce their carbon footprint
• Save money with Energy Trust of Oregon cash-back incentives
Each workshop runs from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Food and refreshments will be served. Workshops are free, but registration is required at www.pacificpower.net/energyiq. Cities and dates include:
