A Beaverton area woman was arrested following a conflict between motorists and subsequent police pursuit through Sherwood and into Aloha. Elizabeth Marie Ellett, 25 years of age, of Beaverton was directed to stop by a Sherwood Police officer, who was standing outside his patrol car on an unrelated matter. Ellett stopped, and then accelerated toward the officer, as she made a profane gesture, and sped away. The officer, who was nearly struck, pursued Ellett into Aloha. The pursued car travelled at near posted speeds, in moderate traffic conditions. The car eventually yielded to Washington County Sheriff's deputies, who placed spike strips in front of the tires to inhibit escape. Ellett again fled with the tires on her car having been punctured. Police located her car at her parents home, shortly afterward. Police set up a perimeter around the Beaverton Home, located on 184th, and Ellett was arrested when police entered with a canine unit.
Ellett is charged with Attempted Assault First Degree, Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, Reckless Endangering, and other traffic related offenses. She received minor injury during the arrest and will be lodged in Washington County Jail on approximately $85,000.00 bail.
