On Sunday, May 23, 2010 the City of Tualatin invites everyone who owns a bicycle to the Tualatin Commons for the first ever Pedaling in the Park event! The free, family-friendly event has something for everyone. Starting at 9:00 a.m. there will be free kids bike safety and skills development games led by the Washington County Bicycle Transportation Coalition. Through a series of riding courses and fun skill-building games beginner and intermediate bicycle riders will learn how to safely operate a bicycle and develop confidence in their abilities. Bikes will get a quick safety check, and then the kids are off to practice starting, stopping, turning, and learning some rules of the road. There will also be wacky bike games including a "Slow Race" and the "Chaos Box"!

Lower Boones Ferry Road and Tualatin Road will be temporarily closed as bicyclists of all ages will join together at for a family fun ride from the Tualatin Commons through Tualatin Community Park, over the Tualatin River, and back. This is an all-ages fun ride (not a race!) and a great way to enjoy Tualatin's parks! There will be a pirate-themed treasure hunt for kids. Wouldn't it be wonderful to see hundreds of local families Pedaling in the Park?

The Tualatin Youth Advisory Council will be grilling up some yummy treats as a fundraiser and there will be lots of other fun activities at the Tualatin Commons including music. Come one come all!
