PORTLAND PARKS & RECREATION INVITES PUBLIC TO SERVE ON PROJECT ADVISORY COMMITTEE FOR LENTS PARK MASTER PLAN
Posted: March 16th, 2010 3:18 PM

(Portland, OR) – Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) is seeking interested community members to serve on a Project Advisory Committee (PAC) that will help guide the development of a Master Plan for Lents Park.

In December 2009, Portland City Council identified $100,000 to develop a Master Plan for Lents Park, a 38-acre community park in southeast Portland. A Master Plan is a strategic, guiding document showing a long-term vision for the park. The final Master Plan will include a concept diagram for the park, along with cost estimates. It is anticipated that the Master Plan will include many of the large existing site improvements that have made Lents Park a successful park thus far.

The PAC will assist the bureau's project team in the development of the vision for the park. Each committee member will bring a unique perspective that must be balanced with a community-wide vision. The committee's primary roles are to balance local and citywide needs and perspectives, assist PP&R's ability to serve people of all ages and abilities, and accommodate a wide range of activities that promote health and wellness, arts and culture, and social interactions.

The Project Advisory Committee will meet five to seven times between May 2010 and January 2011. In addition, there will be approximately three community meetings PP&R will ask the PAC members to attend.
