NUMEROUS CALLS HELP OSP TROOPERS LOCATE, ARREST RECKLESS DRIVER NEAR EUGENE
Posted: March 26th, 2010 3:36 PM

A 52-year old Beaverton man was arrested by Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers Friday morning for reckless driving following multiple citizen complaints that his vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and passing on the shoulders on Interstate 5 in the Eugene area.

Prior to 11:00 a.m. on March 26, 2010, the OSP Northern Command Center dispatch began receiving multiple calls of a blue 2008 Toyota Corolla traveling northbound on Interstate 5 from milepost 182 at approximately 100 mph and passing on the freeway shoulders. A total of nine calls were received from different people reporting similar observations at different locations as the Toyota continued northbound. OSP Recruit Trooper Kyle Bachmeier credited the citizens' calls in playing a big role to help troopers find the car at the Oakgrove Rest Area near milepost 206 north of Eugene.

At 11:09 a.m., troopers contacted the car's driver, DEAN STANLEY COLE, age 52, from Beaverton, and arrested him without incident for Reckless Driving. He was lodged in Lane County Jail.

No photographs available for release.
