Oregon State Police troopers are completing the investigation into a nine vehicle traffic crash in a Roseburg-area highway work zone on Interstate 5 Friday morning. One person was transported to a hospital with minor injuries and the northbound lanes were closed less than one hour.

Preliminary information indicates on March 12, 2010 at approximately 7:36 a.m. a 2003 Dodge Stratus driven by a 20-year old Roseburg woman was northbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 120 in heavy rain conditions when it lost control and hydroplaned. The car struck the median and came to rest in the northbound lanes. Eight other vehicles collided with each other while trying to stop including five passenger cars, one loaded log truck, and two pickups pulling travel trailers.

One vehicle occupant identified as JAMES P. TAYLOR, age 68, from Winston, was transported by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center with minor injuries.

OSP troopers from the Roseburg Area Command office responded along with ODOT, Roseburg Fire Department, and Douglas County Fire District 2.

No enforcement action taken.
