Portland Parks & Recreation's 34th community garden, Madison Community Garden, will officially open Friday, March 12. The Madison School educational garden is adjacent to the new public community garden. Students, teachers and two AmeriCorps members built the school garden and partnered with the Village Building Convergence to create an outdoor classroom.

The Portland Parks & Recreation Community Gardens program constructed the section for the neighborhood, the fencing and irrigation for both the school garden and the community garden. This space will connect people of all ages and ethnicities to the common goal of cultivating food, relationships and environmental stewardship.
