MEDIA ADVISORY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Changes to Vancouver Police Facility Hours and Services
Effective immediately the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) will no longer have staff available for public service counters at VPD East Precinct (520 SE 155th Ave) and Police Headquarters (605 E Evergreen Blvd). This comes as a result of the recent layoffs of civilian staff.
Counter service for the public will only be available at the VPD West Precinct between 9am – 4pm, Monday-Friday. In addition phone calls will be answered in all facilities of VPD during office hours. West Precinct may also be closed periodically during the middle of the day, depending on staffing. Citizens are encouraged to call first if they are planning in person service between 12pm-2pm. (360) 487-7355
The Vancouver Police East Precinct lobby will be open to the public when the Construction Services Office is open from during 7:30 – 4:30. Again there is no counter service at this location. However, citizens can pick up accident forms and other printed materials. An emergency phone with a direct contact to 911 is located outside the front door of East Precinct for citizens needing immediate assistance from a Police Officer.
Citizens can obtain a variety of information from the Vancouver Police Department website at www.vanpolice.org. The website allows citizens to download the Washington State Vehicle Accident form and even make a low level crime report online. Staffing at VPD facilities will remain limited until the budget crisis is resolved so the VPD website is an excellent resource for information.
Traffic complaints can be reported to the Traffic hotline at: (360) 487-7402.
As always, citizens who are reporting an emergency, a crime in progress or need the services of a Police Officer must call 911.
Several services that have always been managed by outside agencies but that generate frequent inquiries from the public at VPD facilities are listed below:
