UPDATE W/ CLIMBER ID -- RESCUE OPERATION UNDERWAY FOR INJURED CLIMBER ON MT. HOOD

UPDATE: 1:30 p.m., May 1, 2013 -- The injured climber is identified as Robert Finke, 52, of Gladstone.
Finke is reportedly in stable condition. He is currently accompanied by a member of Portland Mountain Rescue who happened to be climbing in the same area. They are joined by a member of Timberline's Ski Patrol.
Members of AMR's RAT Team are still making its way up the mountain to the injured climber.
Finke's family has been notified.
The current plan is to put Finke in a toboggan and ski him down the mountain. SAR Coordinators estimate that Finke will arrive at Timberline Lodge sometime between 5 and 6 p.m.

At 9:47 a.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, dispatch received a report of an injured climber on Mt. Hood. A rescue operation is underway.
The male climber reportedly fell over the crest of Hogsback on Mt. Hood. He fell approximately 100-200 feet.
Search-and-rescue (SAR) teams are on-scene -- including Clackamas County SAR Coordinators, AMR's Reach and Treat (RAT) Team, and Timberline Lodge Ski Patrol. At this writing, Portland Mountain Rescue and Mountain Wave Emergency Communications are also en route.
Persons are with the climber, who reportedly has a broken leg. The RAT Team is on its way up to the climber for treatment and transport off the mountain.
The SAR command post is in the Timberline Lodge parking lot.
