Deputies Arrest Man for Beer Robbery
May 2, 2013: Deputies arrest a man for stealing beer then striking a person who attempted to stop him.
May 2, 2013, at 5:48 a.m., Washington County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a reported robbery at the Plaid Pantry at 14140 SW Butner Road in the community of Cedar Hills, an area of the Enhanced Sheriff's Patrol District (ESPD).
Sheriff's Deputies arrived and learned that a person, later identified as John Jacobson, 20, from Portland, took a case of beer that was being delivered to the store. The beer was stacked outside as the distributor was stocking the store. The distributor saw Mr. Jacobson grab a case of beer and run behind the store. When confronted, Mr. Jacobson threw the case of beer striking the distributor in the face. There were no injuries from the confrontation.
Mr. Jacobson ran south into the Nike campus. Additional deputies, assisted by Beaverton Police K9 "Alex" and handler, quickly converged to the area. Shortly after the search began, K9 "Alex" located Mr. Jacobson hiding in some bushes on the Nike property. He was taken into custody without further incident. John Jacobson is suspected of another beer theft earlier in the day.
John Jacobson was charged with Third Degree Robbery and two counts of Third Degree Theft. He was lodged in the Washington County Jail and is being held on $20,000 bail.
