SERIOUS INJURY TRAFFIC CRASH = HIGHWAY 203 NEAR UNION

A 78-year old woman was seriously injured Friday morning in a two vehicle traffic crash on Highway 203 near Union.
According to Sergeant Jason Stone, on May 10, 2013 at approximately 9:50 a.m., a Chevrolet Lumina passenger car driven by BLANCHE KOHLER, age 78, from Union, was stopped on Highway 203 near milepost 16 waiting to turn left onto a county road when it was struck from behind by a Dodge pickup driven by DARRELL WOOD, age 84, from Union. Both vehicles received major damage.
KOHLER was transported by air ambulance to Providence Saint Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla, Washington with serious injuries.
WOOD wasn't injured. He was cited by Oregon State Police (OSP) for Careless Driving.
OSP troopers from the La Grande Area Command office were assisted at the scene by Union County Sheriff's Office, Union Fire Department, La Grande Fire Department, and ODOT.
