On Saturday, April 27, 2013, at two locations in Clackamas County, citizens dropped off a record number of old and unused prescription drugs for safe disposal as part of the annual "National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day," hosted by the DEA and the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office.
The two locations -- Happy Valley City Hall and the Clackamas County Public Safety Training Center -- accepted 1,645 pounds of prescription drugs from citizens, a new record for the local effort.
Flushing drugs into the water system is hazardous, so this is a safe way to keep medications out of the home and out of the water supply.
