UPDATE: COMPUTER SERVER CAUSING DELAYS IN PROCESSING FIREARM PURCHASE APPLICATION PROCESS

The server problem affecting web access and phone transactions, Friday, March 8, for the Firearms Instant Check System (FICS) has not caused a stoppage in background checks for persons attempting to purchase firearms. The interruption in providing responses is causing delays but progress is being made for pending web transactions and staff is processing telephone transactions in the order received.
Oregon State Police appreciates your patience while the server problem is resolved with our vendor. FICS staff is working hard to complete outstanding requests as soon as possible and will be on duty during regular hours until 10:00 p.m. IT staff will be working throughout the night as needed to resolve the server problem.
