UPDATE #2: FIREARM PURCHASE APPLICATION PROCESSING NORMAL AFTER COMPUTER SERVER PROBLEM FIXED
Posted: March 9th, 2013 8:55 AM
The Firearms Instant Check System (FICS) computer server problem was resolved early Saturday morning. Oregon State Police Identification Services Section and FICS staff thank dealers and purchasers for their patience during this time. FICS staff is completing remaining transactions from yesterday and new transactions for today are coming in and processing as normal.
The server problem affected web access and phone transactions, Friday, March 8, but didn't cause a stoppage in background checks for persons attempting to purchase firearms. The interruption in providing responses did cause delays while the server problem was resolved with our vendor. FICS staff continued working Friday after the problem was discovered to complete outstanding requests as soon as possible.
